So 2012 is over. It wasn’t quite what I expected. Let’s see what this year is up to.
I am not doing resolutions. For one because I think: If you want to change something, do it. Don’t wait for a new year to happen. I have to admit that I am not very successful at that (you know, the whole I-start-tomorrow-thing…) though. And the other reason is – I have sooo many things I want to improve, wrapping that into New Year’s resolution lets it seem so overwhelming, I am quite sure it would demotivate more than it would help. I am going to make small steps.
Speaking of small steps: I will start at work. I really have to stay away from the snack box that is sitting in our kitchen. It’s always there – little temptations (chocolate bars, cookies, gummy bears), 70 cent per piece, that talk to me every time a set a foot in there. So this is the first of many small steps: keep away from the snack box. I am not saying that I won’t have any sweets. Just not while I am working.
I hope you had a really nice time with your family and friends over the holidays, and I want to wish you all the best for the year that is to come.
Let’s rock 2013!
Cookie.
Happy New Year! That snack box would be hard for me too. Can you make your own snack box and bring it for yourself?
I have a hard time rationing sweets of any kind. If I have something in the house, I’ll eat it. So I think it might be better not having anything at all. Also, if I start the sweet stuff early, it’s hard to stop too. But we have a lot of small stores where you can buy small amounts of candy, so if I can restrain myself until my way home I should be fine. Unless I forget to take my food to work, like I did yesterday….
Happy new year, Cookie! I hope that 2013 is a good year for you! At the very least, I hope it is better than 2012.
I like your idea of starting small. Do you take any healthy snacks with you to work? I could not make it through an entire workday without nibbling, so I’d pack cranberries, nuts, carrots and hummus. (Not all at once, of course, but a different one each day.) I stayed full, it satisfied my need to snack, and it was healthy.*
Thank you! I usually don’t take any snacks, but I don’t have breakfast at home (bad habit, I know), so I have breakfast at work. I think I should be better prepared though. Bought carrots today, I should eat more vegetables anyway.
